  Haha, yeah at least the review was a bit more enjoyable. It's hard to appreciate the gag when it's at your expense though. It's a pity you couldn't have had a come back like asking to phone a friend or 50/50. It's one of those things you only think of afterwards, at the time your too embarrassed at having got the answer wrong.

  The org is going down----I can feel it!

  my brother called me today.he is 20 ,3 years younger than me,and out of the religion.he still has fear though that it could be true,but thats another story.. he told me he heard my mother and father talking upstairs.my mother said about the org "ive put 26 years into it,i think i'm done with it,i might just go sunday from now on".this is huge ,because she was a devoted nutjob witness.she made my life horrible for the 1st 17 years of my life.i had been trying to suddly tell her the truth about the troof,but i didn't expect this.i'm happy and yet i want to know where she stands with the borganization.. this along with what seems to be an outpouring of similar stories,i have a gut feeling the jehovahs witness mind control cult is on the brink of implosion.everyone is so burdened by it.the jig is up,gb,good riddance when you fold.the rank and file have had enough.my 2 younger sisters are on the edge of mental freedom.i hope they can fully get free of it.. this is a milestone in my families long and strange trip in mental enslavement!!!!!!!!!!!!

  I remember making my mum cry when I left the JW's. I said to her that the org wouldn't last another 50 years at the most because all the promises are empty promises. You will have to bury grandma, I will bury you, you will all live in hope and die in despair.

  Are you a better talker or listener?

  i remember going door to door, and we knew what we were going to say even before the person opened the door.

  if a person had their own idea about god or religion, we just didn't listen, and kept on preaching what we were taught, because there is only one truth, and we had it.

  right.... today, i feel that i'm a better listener because i stop and listen to other people's point of view.. .

  On the field service I wasn't a very good listener. As long as they took the mags I couldn't care less what they were on about.

  Other than that I would say I'm a good listener as I think you never learn anything by just broadcasting what you think but by taking in other points of view.

  The idea of perfection and living forever

  this past year i turned 30, my father in law is visiting and he's turning 62 tomorrow so i'm baking him a cake.

  i have been thinking about aging and how it seems very normal to me.

  if adam and eve sinned and no longer were going to live forever, how come there aren't plants and animals that were also living forever.

  LOL!! Nice one, that gave me a good laugh.

  When I believed in the resurrection I always thought it would be weird to eventually be the same age as my grandma. I also had trouble figuring out where everyone was going to live once the earth was filled up cos no-one died.

  Do some WT phrases make you squirm?

  for me it's "the doors of the ark are closing.

  i can never forget as a child, being forced to see the graphic images in the publications showing families, mothers with little babies clinging to a rock and others drowning as the ark floats away.

  fathers shaking their fists at god for destroying their families... it's like some of the little mind control still functioning in there somewhere causing a kneejerk reaction of uneasiness.... are there any others that bug you?.

  The word 'wholesome' used to wind me up. When they went on about wholesome music, wholesome friends, wholesome entertainment etc etc.

  Spiritual banquet was another one. Bullshit smorgasbord more like.

  Virtually every speaker at the Sunday talk tried to incorporate bizarre metaphors to try and get the point across. They made me laugh more than annoy me though cos they were so contrived and rubbish.

  Names given to children

  what i've noticed, is that there seems to be a lot of recent jw parents who make sure to name their kids by some hebrew/biblical name.

  so now you have kids running around w/names like ezekiel, reuben, isaiah, etc.

  there were also a few strange names that i'm sure some of these kids would've been made fun of because of it.. have any of you noticed this?

  It's blatant false advertising. If I see a car transforming into a robot on the advert I want it to do the same in real life

  It's a cool ad though. It works well cos you remember the ad and the product. A lot of impressive ads you think wow that was a good ad but you can't remember what the hell it was advertising.

  on the inside cover of the PLPR book you speak of there is a seaserpent, some type of sauropod, and a pterodactyl illustrated along with some bible chars which would have certainly indicated to me that the dinos died off at the flood

  Ah yes, that's the one I'm thinking of. I couldn't remember what it looked like exactly. Thanks for the info, I thought I might have imagined it when I was a kid.

  Dinosaurs were reptiles, and some kinds of dinosaurs bear strong resemblance structurally and otherwise to lizards (sauros is, in fact, the Greek word for "lizard"; saura in Leviticus 11:29, LXX). Not all types of dinosaurs were of such gigantic size. Hence, even if they had survived till the Flood, this would not have required taking pairs of the mammoth varieties into the ark

  That answer shows plain ignorance. It assumes all dinosuars were of the same species and genus. It's like saying sheep are the same as cows or lions are the same as tigers.

  This thread has jogged my memory about something. I'm sure I remember a societies illustration showing dinosuars in the background with Noah and the ark in the foreground before the flood. It might have been the old orange Paradise book. The implication of the drawing is that God destroyed the dinosaurs with the flood.

  Did I imagine that or does that ring a bell with anyone?

  1. Did anyone ever cheat to get a better score? You can right your Ts in such away you can change the to Fs in case you get the wrong answer.

  LOL! Yeah, I used to do that.

  Wow, I didn't know it was called the Oral review now. Haha, what dummy thought that one up. It sounds like the title to a bad porno flick.

  I remember staying with a friend when I was about 14 and going to his congregation when it was the written review. I did my usual thing of drawing pics and writing stupid answers. Only trouble was when time was up his family swapped papers and marked each others and his dad took mine to mark. I went bright red and was sweating till the end of the meeting. All he said at the end was 'you had some interesting answers there, not a very good score though'. The guy had 5 boys of his own so I bet he was used to kids doing stupid stuff so I think I got off lightly.
